6 Practical Steps for Treating Baby Eczema

Well, depending on the cause of eczema, different people respond to different treatments of it. There are a number of beneficial and practical steps you can take to combat your baby’s eczema as well as nutritional steps, which can be found here.

The 6 steps below outline the most practical, at-home steps you can take to help care for your baby’s skin.

1. Use gentle products

You could also try mixing some oats and warm water and applying as a paste to your baby’s skin and wash it off 10-15 minutes later.

5. Breastfeeding and coconut oil

Research has shown that breastfed babies are less likely to develop eczema. If this is not an option for you, however, don’t fret! One of the wonderful components of breast milk is the lauric acid, which is also found in coconut oil.

Incorporating organic, virgin coconut oil into your routine could help make a difference. Once your baby is old enough (remember to consult a dietitian or doctor!) incorporate coconut oil into their diet.

A simple way of doing this would be to apply a small amount to the top of your baby’s bottle before a feed in order for your child to reap the benefits.

6. DIY topical treatments

After bath time or before bed, be sure to moisturize your baby’s skin with natural, organic products or with ingredients you already have in your home!

Using organic, virgin coconut oil is a great way to keep your baby’s skin moisturized and coconut oil acts as an anti-inflammatory, which is perfect for itchy, irritated skin. If your baby’s skin isn’t too sensitive to the touch, spend some time massaging the oil in, which will help circulation.
